Yoga for Youngsters
In partnership with Yoga for Youngsters, Cento incorporates literacy into yoga lessons for children of all backgrounds, including refugee students and local Houstonians. Yoga for Youngsters runs trimonthly programs at five Houston Public Library locations. With Cento, Yoga for Youngsters moves beyond movement and works to enhance storytelling and narrative skills in young students.
Etoile Academy Charter School
Alongside Etoile Academy, Cento empowers young minds, pushing them to unlock their creativity through poetic exploration and connection. Cento leads workshops for middle schoolers, some of whom are refugees, equipping them with the literary skills to bravely confront migration, memory, and inheritance on the written page.
Meals On Wheels
In alignment with Meals On Wheels’ mission to provide nutritious meals to homebound seniors, Cento aims to reconnect seniors by fostering connection and storytelling within Houston’s diverse senior population. As we partner with current and former Houston Poet Laureates and local young writers, Cento produces vibrant pamphlets featuring original poetry for distribution within each holiday meal.
