Bridging cultures and backgrounds across Houston through Poetry.
Cento supports free creation and exploration for Houstonians.
Cento empowers writers and literary enthusiasts across Houston to bridge cultures and backgrounds while sharing their voices through storytelling and poetry.
We seek to create high impact relationships with existing community-based and community-led organization like Meals On Wheels, The Houston Public Library, Tony’s Place, and Etoile Charter Academy School.
Current Projects
Cento aims to create high-impact relationships with community-based and community-led organizations across the Houston Metro area. We incorporate our impact into the unique, individual impacts of these organizations, hoping to address a spectrum of disparities that separate and hold back Houstonians, one stanza at a time.
Materials for Learning
At Cento, we prioritize flexibility, accessibility, and innovation when constructing lesson plans in partnership with organizations. We provide customizable, sample lesson plans to all our partners so they can run their own workshops with ease. We also hope to begin offering translated/bilingual lesson plans starting in 2026.
Upcoming Projects
We are always looking for additional spaces to impact and finding unconventional, fresh ways to accomplish our goal of bridging Houston together through poetry. We place a strong emphasis on meeting people where they are and attending to specific needs - not just in a traditional “education based setting.”
“The work Cento does is nothing short of essential.”
— Angelica Vasquez, Program Coordinator, Meals On Wheels - Houston
